Der Mercedes-Benz 220 SEb/C (W111/3) ist ein viersitziges Coupé der oberen Mittelklasse. Er wurde von 09/1961 bis 10/1965 insgesamt 14.173 mal gebaut
Der Neupreis des Fahrzeuges lag bei 23.500,00 DM. Er kostete damit neu das 1,4-fache der entsprechenden Limousine und gitl vielfach als der formschönste Nachkriegs-Mercedes
wobei das Coupé mit seiner Panoramascheibe eigentlich noch hübscher ist als das Cabrio. Dieser Mercedes war in stilvolles Fortbewegungsmittel. Er war in Statement zu Eleganz
Qualität und Stil. Als Besonderheit muss erwähnt werden
dass die W111 Coupé und auch Cabrio die letzten vorwiegend in Handarbeit gefertigten Mercedes waren. Das Coupé basiert auf der ungekürzten Rahmen-Boden-Anlage der zugehörigen Limousine und
war dadurch ein vollwertiger Viersitzer. Coupé und Limousine haben auch stilistisch zahlreiche Gemeinsamkeiten
trotzdem konnte von den Rohbauteilen des Viertürers nicht ein einziges für das Coupé verwendet werden. Für die Coupé 's wurden viermal so viele Teile in Handarbeit gefertigt wie für die Limousine. m Innenraum gibt es keine harten Ecken und Kanten. Die Karosserieform ist geradlinig und elegant. Die Karosserie zeichnet sich durch eine bis dahin nicht gekannte passive Sicherheit aus. Sie besaß als erste eine stabile Fahrgastzelle und wirksame Knautschzonen. Der 220SEb/C war der erste Mercedes-Serien-Personenwagen mit Scheibenbremsen an den Vorderrädern. Das Fahrwerk ist mit einer Kugelumlauflenkung
mit Doppel-Querlenkern vorn und hinterer
